The water outlet of the Saylorville Dam (Saylorville Iowa) looks like a big tube. The water leaving it is moving fast and with a lot of force. The distance between the outlet and where the water has the normal smooth flow of a river is short. However, capturing and cropping regions emphasis the beauty of the water’s turbulence and how the turbulence has different forms.
This is a series of video clips taken at the Saylorville Dam showing water flow from the outlet. The videos clips emphasis how the turbulence changes near the outlet (smooth and fast), into a region of high turbulence (apparent chaos), and finally to the river banks (relaxing). The various regions, even if they look chaotic, seem to have patterns.
